Mary Louise Landes, 96, of Mulberry, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Mulberry Health.
She was born June 14, 1920, in Lafayette, to Adeline Haas Oley Lurch. On November 3, 1940, she married Cleo Robert Landes in Lafayette; he preceded her in death in 2002.
Mary worked at Mulberry Lutheran Home as a custodian, later as a cook and custodian for a sorority house at Purdue, and retired from Kmart in Lafayette. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and their Ladies Study Group and Clinton County Homemakers. Mary enjoyed the farm life especially her chickens and selling eggs, spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, gardening, and cooking.
Surviving Mary are her sons, Wayne (Rhoda) Landes, of Frankfort, and Tom Landes, of Lafayette; daughter, Priscilla (Frank) Fossnock, of Frankfort; son-in-law, James Taber, of Stockwell; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mary is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Linda Louise Taber; brother, William Oley; and sister, Adeline Walters.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel from 5:00 â 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Earl Owens officiating.
