Mary Lou Johnson, 85, of Frankfort, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Homewood Health Care in Lebanon.
She was born January 12, 1929, in Rockfield, the daughter of Everett Dale and Cloya Ione Shanks Sharp. On January 21, 1957, Mary Lou married Bill L. Johnson; he preceded her in death August 1, 2008.
Mary Lou graduated from Flora High School and attended several seminars after high school. Before marrying Bill, she worked as a bookkeeper for Smith Motor Sales & Construction. From 1960-1968, she and Bill owned and operated Johnson Grocery in Camden. In 1968, they bought Fudgeâs Market, operating it until 1980. Mary Lou also sold insurance for A.L. Williams Insurance. She lived in the Flora and Camden areas until 1968 when she moved to Frankfort. Mary Lou was a bookkeeper for 20 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Carroll Chapter of Eastern Star.
Surviving Mary Lou are her three children, Karen Franks, Larry (Debbie) Johnson, and Michael (Diane) Johnson; and three grandchildren, Victoria Shannon, Sheldon Johnson, and Wyatt Johnson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by three siblings, Kenneth Sharp, James Sharp, and Lois Ehler.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Frankfort on Monday, May 12, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Kelly Kurth will officiate.
