Max E. Thomas Sr., 89, of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at his home.
He was born May 23, 1928, in Brazil, IN, to Wesley and Hattie Kirkham Thomas. ON August 6, 1966, he married Shirley Padgett; she survives.
Max attended Frankfort Schools. During the Korean War, Max served in the United States Army as a medic. In 1990, he retired from General Battery, now Exide, after over 30 years of service. Max was known for his quick wit; he enjoyed his time playing cards at Rogers and the Gem City Shop and putting together puzzles.
In addition to his wife, Max is survived by his sons, Michael (Tammy) Ham, of California, Max âGenoâ Thomas Jr., of Frankfort, and Matthew (Andi) Thomas, of California; daughters, Jacque (Bruce) Kauffman, of Frankfort, Karen Blaney, of Lafayette, and Kathy (Dana) Hamalian, of Delphi; brother, Jerald Thomas, of Arkansas; sister, Ruby Ridenour, of Frankfort; ten grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Max is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Roscoe, Charles, Curtis, and Dean Thomas; one infant brother, and three sisters, Mary Navel, Beulah Camp, and Ina Belle Cannon.
Per Maxâs request, no services will be held at this time. Memorials in Maxâs name may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with online condolences being directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
