Maxine A. Simpson, 92, Frankfort, died at noon May 15, 2011, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community, Frankfort, IN.
Mrs. Simpson was born Oct. 27, 1918 in Findlay, Ohio to Arthur B. and Beatrice (Parlette) Nichols. She married George W. Simpson on Nov. 21, 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1991.
She worked as a secretary for the State of Illinois, in the employment office for 10 year and had lived in the Springfield, Ill. area for 10 years before moving to Frankfort in the spring of 1992.
She served our country as a Sgt. WWII. She was a radio operator, first in the WAAVs, and then in the WAACs, 1942-1945.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce M. (husband Frederick) Spier, of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Sallie E. (husband Robert) Pearson of Frankfort; two sisters, Janice (husband Wayne) Riebow and Joan Nichols, both of Ocala, Fla.; three grandchildren, Lisa (husband David) Aut, Jennifer (husband Mike) Brandon and Jeffrey (wife Nicole) Pearson; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Wayne Nichols, and one grandson, James Ryan Suits.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at Amanda Reid Memorial Chapel in Wesley Manor. Pastor Jake Fisher and Chaplain Ron Mann will officiate the services. Calling will occur from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 23 at the Amanda Reid Memorial Chapel. Burial will occur in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Ill. at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011.
Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Guardian Angel Hospice.
