Maxine V. Roth, 93, of Rossville, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
She was born May 4, 1921, in Carroll County, to Fred O. and Mary Ritchey Luper. On September 16, 1939, Maxine married Eugene Roth; he preceded her in death on February 16, 1983.
Maxine graduated from Rossville High School in 1939. Throughout her adult life, she worked on the farm with her husband. Maxine worked for Gray Hatcheries for ten years. From 1961 to 1995, Maxine worked in the Purdue Libraries. In 1995, she began volunteering as the secretary at Rossville Church of the Brethren to the present. Maxine was a member of Rossville Church of the Brethren, lifetime member of the Good Sam Club, and charter member of Longaberger. Her memberships extended also to Sesqui Circle Home Ec. Club, Present Day Club, Rossville Birthday Club, Leisure Hour Book Club, and Purple Poppies Red Hat Club. Maxine greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, and watching Purdue Ladies Basketball.
Surviving Maxine are one daughter, Nancy (Max) Rodkey of Rossville; two grandchildren, Torrey Rodkey and Colby Rodkey; great grandchildren, Ryan Rodkey, Victoria Rodkey, Marcus Rodkey, and Vivian Rodkey; and one sister, Nondas Shaffer.
In addition to her husband, Maxine is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Maxine will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 12:00 p.m. to the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Allen Weldy will officiate.
