Mildred A. âMillieâ Caruthers, 88, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.
She was born January 31, 1925, in Buhler, Kansas, the daughter of David J. and Katie Dirks Voth.
On October 19, 1952, she married Donald Caruthers; he survives.
Millie graduated Buhler High School in 1943 and received her bachelorâs in education from Wichita State University and her masterâs in education from Central Missouri State. Millie was a teacher and counselor in Grandview, Missouri; she retired in 1987 after 26 years of service. Millie and Don moved to Frankfort in 1998. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Millie loves were her family especially her grandkids, the Kansas City Chiefs and her KU basketball team-Rock Chalk Jayhawks.
In addition to her husband, Millie is survived by two sons, James âJimâ (Becky) Caruthers of Lafayette, and Tom (Julie) Caruthers of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; one brother, Les (June) Voth of Argyle, Texas; three grandchildren, Jesse, Grace, and Katie; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation for Millie will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jake Fisher will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Millieâs name may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund-Wesley Manor.
