Mildred Ilene Hitch, 85, of Frankfort, died at 9:50 p.m. Friday, march 30 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born May 14, 1926 in Charleston, Ill, to Walter and Edna (Harshman) Gleason, and she was raised by Mary Margaret and Ray Myers. She married Joseph E. Hitch April 24, 1948. He preceded her in death Oct. 28, 1999.
Mrs. Hitch attended schools in Illinois, and enjoyed sewing, embroidery and crossword puzzles. She had worked at the Cigar Factory and Mallory Controls. She also in her younger years took in ironing and did some babysitting. She was also a member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Marcia A. Laverty of Frankfort and Janet I. Warren of Forest; a son: Randy J. Hitch of Frankfort; three sisters: Louise Prickett, Darlene Scott and Patricia Reed; three brothers: Kenneth, James and Phillip Gleason; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 at Genda Funeral Home, with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Clinton County Humane Society.
