Mildred L. Mullendore of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016, just two days short of marking her 96th birthday. She was laid to rest on Saturday, December 2nd, in Maple Lawn Cemetery following a graveside service.
The hallmark of Mildredâs life was her abiding faith in God. She bore quiet witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in her daily life. Her strong belief and deep knowledge of scripture was an inspiration to others. As a long-term member of the First Brethren Church in Flora, she taught the adult Sunday School class for over 30 years and regularly attended the weekly Bible study. She was also a member of the Womenâs Missionary Society.
A lifelong resident of Flora until recent years, Mildred was the daughter of William A. and Cora M. (Hodges) Eller. She graduated from Flora High School in 1938 and completed a correspondence business course through the Spencer Business College of New Orleans, LA. She worked in the office of agricultural administration and the County Recorderâs Office before her marriage on April 9, 1939 to Max B. Mullendore. Later Mildred enjoyed a career working as a receptionist / assistant in the successive medical practices of Doctors Max Adams, Carlos and Nellie Amaya, and Alvin Eller. She retired in the mid-1980s.
Preceding her in death are husbands Max Mullendore and Frank Mullendore, Jr., daughter Brenda Vaughn, granddaughter Kelly Nichole Vaughn, grandson Darus Jackson, great-grandson Landen Reneau, brother Dale Eller, and sisters Hazel Rice, Dorothy Summers, Evelyn Lehman and Ossie Summers.
A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her children: Gary Mullendore of Angola, Connie Roberts of Flora, Brad (Sue) Mullendore of Crawfordsville and Marlene Mullendore of Cambridge, MA; son-in-law Craig âRandyâ Vaughn of Battleground; 7 grandchildren: Dennis Jackson, Michelle Winter, Karlene Reneau, Amber Miklos, Nathan Mullendore, Rhett Vaughn and Seth Vaughn; and 12 great-grandchildren.
