Muriel Maxine (Colson) Reitenga, 88, died at 12:30 p.m. on April 5, 2012 at Wesley Manor.
She was born June 11, 1923 in Oxbow, Maine, to Russell and Alma (Clifford) Colson. Muriel married the late Douglas C. Reitenga Jr. Oct. 3, 1953.
Muriel graduated from Sullivan High School in 1943 and attended one-and-a-half years of Business College in Souix City, Iowa. She was a WWII veteran and served in the U.S. Navy WAVES. Muriel retired after 17 years from Civil Service at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Ill. She lived In Frankfort since March 2005 and also resided in Lynchburg, Mo. from 1996 to 2005. She loved to read and enjoyed going out to eat, especially at Red Lobster. Muriel was a member of St. Paulâs Lutheran Church and worked at the Wesley Manor gift shop.
She is survived by a son, Douglas C. (Nerissa) Reitenga, III, of Cibolo, Texas; a sister, Betty (John) Gidusko, Fern Park, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Doris Slot, Grand Rapids, Mich.; two granddaughters, Briana and Kayla Reitenga, of Cibolo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on Dec. 6, 2003 and two brothers, Clifford and Wallace Colson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday April 9 at St. Paulâs Lutheran Church. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday with Pastor Joshua Burkholder officiating. Burial will be at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11 at Pine Creek Cemetery, Lynchburg, Mo. with Pastor Shannon Lewis Officiating.
Memorial contributions may be designated to the donorâs charity of choice.
