Nancy Jane Troyer, 78, of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.
She was born March 2, 1936, in Terre Haute, to William and Bernice Whitten Lauterbach. On October 2, 1960, she married David Troyer; he survives.
Nancy graduated from Clinton High School in 1954, and graduated from Purdue University in 1958 with a bachelor of science in home economics. She worked at the Indiana State Fair 4-H Building for two years and then as a Home Extension agent for two years in Fulton County. In Talma, she taught high school home economics for one year before opening Nancyâs Shoppe in Hartford City for ten years. Moving to Frankfort, Nancy worked at Wesley Manor Care & Share Shop where she recently became the manager. Nancy was a member of First Christian Church in Frankfort where she started the Blanket Ministry for Clinton County. She enjoyed sending birthday cards and visiting shut-ins. Nancy loved flowers, working with strawberries, playing cards and games, visiting people, working at Billie Creek Village in Parke Co., and the Riley Cheer Guild.
In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by one son, Michael Allen (Melinda) Troyer of Hartford City; one daughter, Cynthia Ann (Mark) Durr of Sheridan; grandchildren, Bailey Troyer, Sara Troyer, Adam Durr, and Steven Durr; and cousins, Bill (Mary) Lauterbach of Atlanta, GA, and Terri Cotts of Walla Walla, WA.
Visitation for Nancy will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014, from 2:00 â 5:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Pam Ditson-McCall officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
