Nellie M. Kessler, 96, of Rossville, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at Milner Health and Retirement. She was born December 14, 1927, in Lakeland, Florida to Mervin and Ethel (Moore) Welk. She married D. Marion Kessler on April 18, 1948. He preceded her in death January 21, 1994.
Nellie loved being a mother and taking care of the home. She had a very nurturing heart and cared dearly for her family. She was a hardworking and determined woman making sure that the chores were done. Her faith was a strong foundation in her life. She was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, doing puzzles, playing games, and going to garage sales.
Nellie is survived by her children, Larry (Cheryl) Kessler, Beverly (Kenneth) Lesher, David (Dianne) Kessler, Sharon (Ralph) Knaus, Virginia (William) Diehl; daughter-in-law, Brenda Wargo; sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Barnhart and Verna Kessler; eighteen grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and their spouses, Floyd (Edith), Marlin (Edna), Galen (Donnabelle), Charles “Bill” (Mary Ellen), and infant Robert; brothers-in-law, Donald Kessler and Alvan Barnhart; and a grandchild, Benny.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 29, 2024, from 3-5pm and 6-8pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel on Rossville. Funeral services will be held 10am Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will follow at North Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery.
