Olivana H. Smith

Olivana H. Smith, age 91 passed away Friday April 6, 2012 at her residence in Frankfort with her family by her side.

She was born April 23, 1921 in Lebanon, Indiana to the late Ralph and Jocie (Howard) Hoffman. She worked for Dr. Carl Bollman from 1971 to 1990 and was a homemaker and mother. She was a 1939 graduate of Jackson High School and served her country in the United States Woman’s Army Corps during WWII. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church, the Homemakers Club and would crochet blankets for the nursery at the hospital, donating over 300 she made. She was an avid College Basketball fan and supported all Indiana based teams. She also enjoyed gardening and her flowers.

She is survived by 6 children: Ronald D (wife Gwen) Smith, Keith E. (wife Becky) Smith, Norman C. (wife Jean) Smith, Charlotte A. (husband Gary) Rhine, Sheila A. (husband Darrell) Kingery, and Kevin R. (wife Libbi) Smith. Sister: Roxie Smith and sisters-in-law: Alberta Johnson and Imogene Huffman. 19 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Smith. Her parents, 1 grandchild, 1 sister, 5 brothers and a daughter-in-law: Bonnie Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday April 10, 2012 at Genda Funeral Home with Dr. Norman Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Green Lawn Cemetery.
