Opal Lucille Cullom, 89, of Mulberry, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
She was born January 17, 1926, in Tippecanoe County, to Edward Chancy and Emma DeLong Golden. On June 28, 1947, she married James R. Cullom; he preceded her in death.
Opal graduated from Mulberry High School and was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of Mulberry United Methodist Church, FFF Club at Church, United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star, Clinton County Campers Club, and Motherâs Club where she was also past president. James and Opal camped for 59 years. She enjoyed baking cakes and crocheting and was a Tupperware consultant.
Opal is survived by one son, James R. (Cindi) Cullom Jr. of Mulberry; three grandchildren, Drew Cullom of Indianapolis, Wes Cullom (Jenni) of Owasco, and Hattie Jo Cullom (Chris) of Chicago; great granddaughter, Emma Jo; and sister-in-law, Sue Golden.
In addition to her husband, Opal is preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Russell Golden, Charles Golden, Donald Golden, George Golden, and John Golden.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor D. âHarleyâ Helm will officiate.
