Opal Winifred Robbins, 95, of Frankfort, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community in Memory Care.
She was born July 13, 1918, in Wynne, Ark., the daughter of Walter A. and Gertrude Jones Swaby. On October 15, 1939, Opal married Arthur K. Robbins; he preceded her in death.
Opal was a homemaker. She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church. She was also a member of the Loyal Workers Club, Y.M. Extension Homemakers, and Fin de Scircle Club. For 23 years, Opal was a member of the Clinton County Cancer Club. Opal and her husband had always enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. They had many friends and neighbors who meant a lot to them. Opal had cared for her husbandâs younger brother, who was crippled by polio, as their own.
Surviving are three sons, James L. (Janet) Robbins of Lebanon, Jack J. (Jeannie) Robbins of Antioch, and Paul D. (Becky) Robbins of Frankfort; one brother, Marion Swaby of Vincennes; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Opal is preceded in death by her parents; one infant son; and three grandchildren.
Visitation for Opal will be held at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort on Monday, June 23, 2014, from 4:00 â 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorials in Opalâs name may be made to Clinton County Cancer or Alzheimerâs Association.
