Patricia Ruth Neuenschwander, 85, formerly of rural Kirklin, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 7, 2015. She was born at home near Cyclone, on June 29, 1930, to Charles A. and Alpha Purciful Ferrell.
Pat spent all of her school years at Kirklin, graduating from Kirklin High School in 1948. She then went to work at Peopleâs Life Insurance Company in Frankfort, until her marriage on July 27, 1952, to Dale Neuenschwander who was serving in the United State Navy. Together they moved to New London, CT, before moving back before the birth of their son, Michael, on August 29, 1953. After Daleâs tour of duty, they returned to Kokomo for six years before making their way back to Kirklin where Pat continued as a wife, mother, homemaker, and custom seamstress. Her sewing specialty was making party dresses and wedding gowns. In her spare time, she kept busy with her flowers, gardening, and preserving produce.
Patâs faith in God was important to her as she was immersed into Christ as a teenager. Later she served as a childrenâs Sunday school teacher, participated in several womenâs ministries, and was the church janitor for several years. Pat was a member of West Point Christian Church for many years.
Surviving Pat are her son, Michael J., and his wife, Kathleen; three grandsons, Matthew D., Brent W., and his wife, Ashley, and Scott M.; and great grandchildren, Alice Mae and Henry Michael, in addition to several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Dale, who passed away on October 17, 2013, Pat is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Wilma Calloway; and one brother, Charles A. âBudâ Ferrell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 1:00 p.m. to the start of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Darren Miracle will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirklin. Memorials in Patâs name may be made to West Point Christian Church or the Salvation Army.
