Paul ""Fred"" Fleener

Paul Frederick “Fred” Fleener, 70, of Amboy, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017, after battling metastatic prostate cancer for the last 3 years.

Fred was born May 14, 1946, in Lafayette, to Leonard and Louise Schield Fleener.

He was a 1964 graduate from Dayton High School.  He has an associate degree in Architectural Engineering with distinction from Purdue University, an Industrial Electrical degree from Ivy Tech, and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Fred served in the United States Army from January 1966 to January 1969.  He worked for Miller Electric in Rossville, for several years before he later purchased and operated the business.  When Caterpillar came to Lafayette, he was hired as an apprentice electrician and moved all the way up into management; he was over the electrical distribution for the site.  He later transferred to Caterpillar in Griffin, GA, where he was in charge of maintenance for the site.  He retired from the Griffin plant after twenty-one years of service with Caterpillar.

After retirement, Fred spent time with his children and grandchildren.  Fred went on two mission trips, one in Quito, Ecuador, and one in Calcutta and New Delhi, India.  He helped start Victory Christian Center in Lafayette and most recently attended Abundant Life Church in Kokomo.

He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Campbell; daughter and her spouse, Rebecca and Jerry Fronk; his son, Gary Fleener; step-daughter and her spouse, Danylle and Damon Ault; eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Fleener.

Celebrate with us as Fred is now spending eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and his Father God upon which this nation of the USA was founded on.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.  Pastor Charles Riley will officiate.  Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry with military honors.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
