Paul H. Reavis, 88, of Rossville, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his home in Rossville.
He was born December 12, 1925, near Sedalia, to Henry J. and Mary Long Reavis. Paul married Thelma Austin on March 29, 1947; she survives.
Paul attended Rossville High School. He was in the United States Navy during World War II as a Radio Operator. Paul farmed for a few years and then worked for Donald Martin Construction in West Lafayette for 35 years. He and Thelma started Reavis Orchards west of Rossville in the late 1960âs and sold apples and cider there for many years. Paul was a member of the Middle Fork Old German Baptist Church and a charter member of Rossville Volunteer Ambulance Service.
Along with his wife, Paul is survived by three daughters, Barbara (John) Hess of Rossville, Virginia (Jim) Skiles of Mulberry, and Rebecca (David) Miller of Rossville; eight grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Leora Austin of Rossville; and brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Nina Austin of Modesto, Cal.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Leona Reavis; brother, David Reavis; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Herman Shuman; two sisters, Florence Reavis and Elsie Reavis; and brother-in-law, Charles Austin.
Visitation for Paul will be held at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel on Friday, March 21, 2014, from 2:00 â 5:00 p.m. and also 6:00 â 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Middle Fork Meeting House conducted by the Home Brethren. Burial will follow in Middle Fork Old German Baptist Cemetery. Memorials in Paulâs name may be made to Rossville Volunteer Ambulance Service or St. Elizabeth Hospice.
