Peggy LaRue Miller, 80, of Frankfort died at 10:43 a.m. on Sept, 2, 2012 at Mulberry Health and Rehabilitation.
Miller was born Nov. 16, 1931 in Clinton County to Kenneth H. and Mildred E. (Swinford) Voght. She was raised by her mother and adoptive father Kenneth Taflinger.
She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1949, and married William C. Miller on June 4, 1949. They divorced in 1963.
She worked as a The Times copy editor from Oct. 31, 1967 until she retired in 1997. She returned to The Times from 2000-2008.
Miller held the Academy of Friendship, College of Regents and Star Recorder Degrees in Women of the Moose. She was also the first woman in a traditionally all-male service club in Clinton County in 1987 when she joined the Frankfort Optimists. She was also the first girl in the Big Broadcast Stage Band at FHS.
Miller was the treasurer of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and a member of the Frankfort Optimist Club, Pink Ladies, UMW and Genealogy Society.
She is survived by two sons: J. Norman Miller and Timothy Ray ( Wife Dee Dee) Miller; two daughters: Leanna LaRue Miller and Peggy Erlene Ashely (Husband Lyle), all of Frankfort; a half-brother: Terry K. Taflinger ( Wife Virgie), of Ariz.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, William Kenneth Miller; and half-brother Roger W. Taflinger.
Visitation will be Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. until the time of service. Services start at 7 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Church or Frankfort Optimist Club.
