Phil A. East, 76, of Frankfort, died in his home at 5:45 PM Thursday, August 18, 2011.
He was born August 26, 1934 in Frankfort to Von and Helen (Hardesty) East. A lifelong resident of Frankfort, he graduated from Frankfort High School in 1953. On April 24, 1959 he married Phyllis Baker. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2002.
Mr. East worked as a produce manager for Hiattâs, Standard, IGA, Spencer, Ranch & Shopwright grocery stores. He loved gardening, especially his flower gardens and cactus, sports of all kinds, and he enjoyed his family, friends and dancing. He was a member of the Eagles lodge.
Surviving are two daughters, Vickie (husband Chuck) Shaff and Tina Gish, both of Frankfort, one sister, Gloria Good, Frankfort, two brothers, Tom (wife Linda) East, Lafayette and David (wife Darlene) East, Frankfort, five grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, & Clint Shaff, Thomas Gish and Alyshia East, and one great-grandchild, Jonathan Shaff.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael East & one sister, Nancy Baker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 PM, Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Genda Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 â 6:00 PM Monday. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be designated to Clinton County Cancer Association or to the Humane Society of Clinton County.
