Philip A. Merritt, 44, of Frankfort, died at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 as a result of complications from a recent surgery.
He was born Oct. 19, 1967 in Frankfort, to Dennis Merritt and Peggy (Pippenger) Grant.
A 1986 graduate of Frankfort High School, he loved to sing Karaoke and sing at various nursing homes. He worked as a delivery driver for Dominoâs Pizza, a waiter at Ryanâs Steakhouse and a security guard at Fed Ex. He was a member at The Well Christian Church. He had also lived in Danville for several years.
He is survived by his mother and step-father: Peggy and David Grant of Frankfort; his father: Dennis Merritt of Texas; a son: Nathan Merritt of Danville; a daughter, Emily Merritt of Danville; a sister: Bonnie Merritt of Frankfort; a brother: Scott (Kristlyn) Merritt of Frankfort; a girlfriend: Barbara Price of Plainfield; and a nephew: David Merritt of Frankfort.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at Genda Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the funeral home, with Pastor Michael Pierson officiating. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
