Philip A. Montgomery, 57, of Michigantown, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was born August 23, 1960, in Frankfort, to Hobert and Katherine Sears Montgomery. On November 18, 1983, he married Tina Marie Smith; she survives.
Phil attended Frankfort Schools. Throughout his life, he worked at General Battery and later Exide, Lawn Novelties, and in construction for many years with several contractors in the area. Phil enjoyed fishing, hunting, arrowhead hunting, and mushroom hunting. He was also an avid car and car show enthusiast and past member of the Eagles Lodge.
In addition to his wife, Phil is survived by his son, Philip A. (Jamie) Montgomery Jr., of Hillisburg; daughters, Heather Marsh (Morgan Turley), of Michigantown, Jami (Ryan) Yuill, of Lafayette, and Chentale (Tony) Myer, of Camden; son-in-law, Jesse Marsh, of Michigantown; sisters, Billie (George) Burkhalter, Elizabeth Cook, and Linda Frye (Alan David); brothers, Daniel (Marvina) Montgomery and Hobert (Melinda) Montgomery; 13 grandchildren, Riley, Damian, Cameron, Tatum, Lane, Harper, Norah, Kiara, Harley, Kort, Kenna, Kolton, and Risley; and many kids who called him Pop or Uncle Phil.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents, father- and mother-in-law, Howard and Barbara Smith; and siblings, Terry Dobson, Florence Walker, Roberta Sue Smith, Mike Montgomery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Meek officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Philâs name may be made to help the family defray funeral costs.
