Philip Heavilon, 93, a life-long Clinton County resident, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016, at his home.
He was born August 26, 1923, in Jefferson, to Hobart P. and Flossie Inez (Fickle) Heavilon. On July 22, 1945, he married Mary Frances Smith; she preceded him in death on April 6, 2010.
Phil graduated from Jefferson High School and served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. He was owner of the Main Meat Market and Brick Shanty Restaurant for 40 years. Phil was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was branch President of the Local Congregation for eight years during which time the Church was built in Frankfort. Phil was also a former member of the Optimist Club, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Elks, VFW and the Masonic Lodge in Jefferson.
Surviving Phil are his children, Helen Marley, of Frankfort, Mark Heavilon, of Frankfort, Ledger (Martha) Heavilon, of Indianapolis, and Samuel (Karla) Heavilon, of Frankfort; brothers, Fred Heavilon, of Frankfort, and Max Heavilon, of Richmond; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Phil is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim; and sisters, Jean Sappington and Inez Catron.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 27th, 2016, from 11:00 am to the start of the funeral service at 1:00 pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Burial will follow at Bunnell Cemetery. Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
