Phillip Dean “Unkle Phil” Ayres, 65, of Monticello, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

He was born November 11, 1949, in Logansport, to John H. and Ruth Ann Ayres.

Phil served in the United States Army.  He worked as a senior sales associate for Dick Krieg Chevrolet Buick GMC in Delphi.  Phil loved sports especially football and his home on the Tippecanoe River.  He enjoyed people and never met a stranger.

Surviving Phil are his daughter, Shelley Ayres (fiancée, Ian Hammond); grandson, Ben Savage; brother, John (Wanda) Ayres; niece, Allison (Chris) Longest; and nephew, Benjamin Ayres.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Ayres.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Flora First Christian Church with Pastor Woody Slade officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora with military honors performed by Kokomo VFW Post 1152 Military Rites Team.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
