Phillip Gregory Saylor, 60, of Cordova, TN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, September 17, 2017. He was born July 30, 1957, in Lafayette, to Garfield and Ellen Miracle Saylor; his mother survives.
Phil graduated from Rossville High School in 1975, and then served in the United States Air Force. He worked in the maintenance department of Purdue for over 10 years before moving to Tennessee. For the next 18 years, he worked in building maintenance for Sunshine Corp. Phil was a lifetime member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Delphi, where he was also an adult Sunday school teacher and song leader. Phil loved his children, adored his grandchildren, and was passionate about his family, singing many years in the family group.
In addition to his mother, Phil is survived by his children, Josh Saylor (fiancé, Nicole), of rural Rossville, Lindsay Saylor (fiancé, Jeremey Foley), of Olive Branch, MS, and Evan Saylor and Katie Saylor, both of Memphis; siblings, Thelma âTJâ (Steve) Strong, of Battle Ground, and William âBillâ (Jay) Saylor and Terrie (Jim) Unger, both of Rossville; grandchildren, Colin, Adalyn, Sophia, and Elijah; and many nieces and nephews.
Phil is preceded in death by his father, sisters, Mae Shackelford and Dee Kelly; infant sister, Ella Sue Saylor; and niece, Lisa Anne Mills.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the church. Funeral service for Phil will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017, at Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Delphi, with Elder Joe Whitehead officiating.
