Phyllis J. Weil Mills, 87, died on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi, Ind.
Born on Sept. 26, 1930, she was adopted at two years of age by Harry and Hulda Mae Weil. She was a 1948 graduate of Flora High School.
On June 11, 1950, she married David Mills in Delphi. He preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 2010.
Phyllis was actively engaged in farming with Dave, hauling grain to terminals and operating the combine when necessary. She also was a successful real estate agent later in life and enjoyed her ten years at Scoggins Real Estate in Kokomo. Phyllis sold many properties in both Carroll and Howard counties. After her retirement, Dave and Phyllis spent winters in Ormond Beach, Fla., for many years.
She was blessed with artistic talents in both sewing and oil painting but her true gift was creating impressionistic quilts. Many of her quilts were showcased at the Delphi Art Show.
Phyllis was a member of the Flora United Methodist Church and the Silver Bells Extension Homemakers Club.
Her greatest love in life was always her family. Surviving are two daughters, Kathi Johnson (Larry) of Deer Creek and Karla Boguzes (Rick) of Mystic, Conn., and a son, Jack Mills (Ginny) of Flora.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jon Johnson, Suzanne Wagner, David Boguzes, Tristan Mills and Blake Mills, and six great-grandchildren, Emily, Laney and Henry Johnson, Megan and Madison Wagner and Bryson Boguzes. Two grandsons, Michael Boguzes and Phillip Mills, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, with a private burial on Friday.
