Ralph Cleatis Zook, 99, of 14 E. North St., died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Delphi.
He was born July 23, 1912, in Ockley, and attended Radner, New Hope and Rossville schools. He was the son of the late Loyd E. and Eunice Peter Zook.
Mr. Zook was a lifelong resident of Clinton and Carroll counties. He was a foreman and equipment operator for Smith Construction Co. of Flora, building roads for 23 years, retiring in 1974. He also farmed south of Burlington from 1937 until 1953.
He was a member of Faith Church of Christ in Burlington; past president of Welcome In Grange 2297; life member of the State and National Grange organizations; and a member of Rossville Masonic Lodge 318 and Helen Bonebrake Chapter 437 Order of Eastern Star.
His first marriage was on Nov. 4, 1931, to Mary Aileen Bolinger. She died May 17, 1987. On June 5, 1988, he married Juanita E. Stoops, and she died Sept. 20, 2002.
Mr. Zook enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling.
Surviving are two sons, Robert C. Zook (wife: Lily Ann) of Silver Lake and Emmett C. Zook (wife: Claudia) of Glenwood, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Loretta Ames of Brazil, Ind., and Christine Anderson (husband: Jerry) of Lebanon; and a stepson, William Carol Bolinger of Rockville, Tenn.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 9 stepgrandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 9 stepgreat-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 grandsons, both named Randy; a son, Roger C. Zook; and 3 sisters, Alice Holtman, Helen Wolfe and Agnes Cox.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Bodine Funeral Home, Rossville, with OES and Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at Bodine Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Cole officiating.
