R. Neil Williams, 88, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015, at Clinton House and Rehabilitation Center in Frankfort.
He was born March 21, 1927, in Tipton, to Carlton B. and Mary Jane LeFeber Williams. On May 27, 1971, he married Nancy Lett; she survives.
Neil graduated Frankfort Senior High School in 1945. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Neil was a crane operator for 31 years at Alcoa before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the American Legion Post 12, member of First Baptist Church, and a member of the 70&2 Sunday school class. Neil loved all music especially gospel music. He sang with the Gospel Express, a trio at church, and played piano, organ, trombone, Omni chord, and best known for his harmonica. Neil enjoyed being with his friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Neil is survived by his daughters, Margie (Wayne) Wolczak of Lafayette, Marcia Slaven of New Castle, Jana Williams of New Haven, and Cindy (Wade) Stowers of Frankfort; grandchildren, Jason Williams, Kane Pitman, Justin Williams, Katrina VanZant, Britney Carrothers, and Blake Stowers; and four great grandchildren, Mary Jane, Madeline, Hendrix, and Declan.
Neil is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Olive McDaniel and Marjorie Williams; and brothers, Carlton Williams, Gwyn Williams, and Lloyd Williams.
Visitation for Neil will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorials in Neilâs name may be made to First Baptist Church Bereavement Fund or Kirklin Christian Church Lunch Program.
