Ralph E. Harshbarger, 80, a life-long resident of Rossville, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Milner Community Health Care in Rossville.
He was born November 2, 1933, in Rossville, the son of Elcania and Martha Heddrich Harshbarger. Together with his wife, Nancy Schnieb, they shared 54 years of marriage.
After graduation from Rossville High School in 1951, Ralph served in the United States Army. He worked for 39 years at Indiana Gas before retiring in 1990. Ralph was a life-long farmer. He attended Rossville Church of the Brethren and was a member of both the Clinton/Carroll County Tractor Club and the Ross Township Advisory Board. Ralph had a passion for anything to do with tractors especially engine work. He and Nancy made donuts for the Rossville Marching Band for many years.
In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his children, Katrina (Mark) Hoogenboom and Karl (Carolyn) Harshbarger; three grandsons, Jeremy Harshbarger (companion, Cheyenne Cumberland), Benjamin Hoogenboom, and Jacob Hoogenboom; two great grandchildren, Ellie and Wyatt; and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Glenn Harshbarger; and one sister, Mary Radko.
Visitation for Ralph will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 2:00 â 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Allen Weldy officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry with military honors by Frankfort American Legion Post 12. Memorials in Ralphâs name may be made to Rossville Volunteer Fire Dept.
