Ralph Herman Webb, 81, of Michigantown, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.
He was born March 24, 1935, in Tell City, to Herman and Louise Holtzman Webb. On February 4, 1954, he married Sarah Newell at St. Maryâs Catholic Church Parsonage in Frankfort; she survives.
Ralph graduated Michigantown High School in 1953, and then in 1954, he attended barbering school in Indianapolis. He began his career as a barber in his father-in-lawâs shop in Michigantown which he continued throughout his life. During the 1960âs and 1970âs, he drove a school bus for Clinton Central Schools. Ralph was an avid hunter and outdoorsman; he was a founding member of the Michigantown Conservation Club. He loved his horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was also a member of the Michigantown Lions and St. Maryâs Catholic Church. Ralph was a life member of Clinton Central Booster Club where he was awarded âFan of the Yearâ for the 2016 season. He supported all of the Clinton Central athletes and attended as many events as possible. Ralph was a basketball fanatic and cheered for the Purdue Boilermakers.
In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by one son, Art Webb of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Linda (Joe) Ray of Michigantown; sister, Marilyn Somsel of Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Rod Webb; six brothers, Carroll âBudâ Webb, Frank Webb, Norman Webb, Walter Webb, Jim Webb, and John Webb; and four sisters, Estelle Lottes, Rovilla Lykken, Wilma Edwards, and Ruth Webb.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 3:00 â 7:00 p.m., and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday. Funeral service for Ralph will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016, at the funeral home with Fr. Chris Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Whiteman Cemetery in Michigantown.
