Ramon O. Light, 81, of Kirklin, died at 12:15 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis.
He was born October 4, 1931, in Kingsport, TN, the son of J. O. and Hannah P. Hite Light.
On March 16, 1956, he married the former Annette Gay Lacy; she survives.
After graduating Holston Valley High School, he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Ramon was the owner and operator of Franklin (Ohio) Wood Products for 12 years. After moving to Frankfort, he opened a new company in Kirklin, Potato Supply, which is still operated by family. Ramon was a member of the Frankfort Baptist Temple. He was a hard working man with integrity who shared his love with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joe (Pam) Light of Forest and John Light of Lafayette; four daughters, Mona (Daniel) Combs of Kirklin, Rhonda (Gilbert) Field of Santa Claus, April (Glenn) Wilson of Mulberry, and Rhea (Kevin) Copas of Frankfort; two sisters, Imogene Strickler of Kingsport and Susie Bowen, both of Kingsport, TN; 21 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and extended his love to his nieces and nephews.
Ramon is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and five brothers.
Visitation for Ramon will be held on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort 4-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Flynn officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
