Raymond E. Cochran, 85, of Kirklin, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at his home.
He was born April 25, 1927 in Kirklin, to Earnest Albert and Florence Louella (Liggett) Cochran. He married Barbara (Galey) Snell Dec. 31, 2004 and she survives.
Ray attended schools in Kirklin, and served with the US Army during WWII. Ray drove a truck for 32 years, working for several companies the last being Roadway, retiring in 1986. He was a member of First Baptist Church and The American Legion in Kirklin, and enjoyed traveling, camping, casinos & playing cards
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Brian Cochran of Lebanon; three daughters: Melinda (Robert) Cochran Cloud of Camby, Donna Cochran Belcher of Zionsville and Laurie Cochran Turner of Lebanon; a step-son: Jeff (Robin) Snell of Sheridan; a step-daughter: Cindy Snell Painter of Kentucky; a sister Evelyn (Jim) Cochran Ploughe of Kirklin; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Scott Cochran, a granddaughter, Stacy Stanger, a son-in-law, Bill Belcher, a step-grandson, Nicholas Snell, a sister, Mary Cochran Dye and and two brothers, Marvin and Paul Cochran.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at Genda Funeral Home, with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am. until the start of services Saturday. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Burial Rites. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Genda Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
