Raymond G. Schiery

Raymond G. Schiery, 81, of Rossville passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at his home. He was born March 30, 1936 in Mulberry to Kenneth and Garnett Schiery.

Raymond worked for Rodkey Brothers in Rossville, retiring after 49 years of service.  He enjoyed building and restoring garden tractors; showing them at county fairs and winning several awards.  Raymond greeted his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a familiar, “Hey kid” and enjoyed his family. He also liked visiting flea markets with his wife Judy.

Surviving family includes his wife of 34 years, Judy (Fleener) Schiery of Rossville; children, Sam (Mary) Schiery of Rossville, Brenda (Jeff) Townsley of Michigan, Paula (Gerald) Meyers of Kentucky, Peggy Cortez of Lebanon, Nancy (Rustie) Snider of Dayton; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jarret (Rovena) Schiery of Rossville, Lavaun Stewart of California, Marilyn (Wayne) Cline or Roanoke and Mary (Andy) Thompson of Thorntown.
Raymond was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice Hewitt and two brothers, Charles and Donald Schiery.

Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Genda Funeral Home-Rossville Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 10:00a.m. on Monday at the funeral home and burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to defray final costs.
