Richard L. Hicks, 73, of Flora, entered Heaven on Sunday, June 28, 2015, after what was expressed by his family as a âgreat day.â
He was born February 11, 1942, in Logansport, to Charles Henson and Margaret Pearson Hicks; his mother survives in Flora. On August 27, 1961, he married Nancy Carter; she survives.
Richard graduated from Burlington High School in 1960, and later received his Associateâs Degree from Ft. Wayne Business College. In the 1960âs, he started working at Yeager and Sullivan Inc. where he continued to work at the now Hog Slat TDM Farms. Richard was a member of Flora First Christian Church where he was an elder and the treasurer and taught Sunday school. He was also a member of the Flora Lions Club. Richard never met a stranger; he was a balanced man, being both a hard worker and one who put his faith and family first.
In addition to his wife and mother, Richard is survived by his son, Michael D. (Rhonda R.) Hicks of Flora; one daughter, Teresa (Brian) McGill of Flora; four sisters, Carma Busch of Logansport, Marilyn Keeler of Camden, Carolyn Hensley of Flora, and Jane Edging of Flora; one brother, Robert Hicks of Galveston; four grandchildren, Carissa, Owen, Molly, and Mandy; and two great grandchildren, Layton and Adeline.
Richard is preceded in death by his father, and one son, Bradley Lynn Hicks.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Flora First Christian Church from 3:00 â 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the church with Pastor Woody Slade officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora. Memorials in Richardâs name may be made to Flora First Christian Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora.
