Richard “Keymoore” William Moore, 93, of Kirklin, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born February 19, 1931, in Kirklin to William Thomas and Gladys Fern (Evans) Moore. He married Sharon Goodman on June 14, 1952. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2020.
Richard was a graduate of Pickard High School, class of 1949. He went on to serve in the United States Navy as an Airman during the Korean War from 1950-1954. He worked many jobs over his years. He worked for Omar Bread Co. then Chesty Foods before landing at PR Mallory as a supervisor for 16 years and retired as a mail carrier from the Postal Service in 1991. He was a member of the Pickard Masonic Lodge #690 and the Sheridan American Legion post 67. He attended the Sugar Creek Christian Church as a child and was the bell ringer. He sang a cappella in a men’s group when he was a young adult. Richard spent much of his life working on the farm, raising goats and rabbits and bailing hay. He enjoyed riding his turf cruiser, buying and selling cars, going to flea markets, painting and drawing. He had a passion for planes from his time in the Navy. He was a jack of all trades. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. But above all things, he was a family man. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Richard is survived by his children, Alicia Ann Moore-Woodruff, Pamela Sue Moore-Snell, Michael Dean Moore, Melissa Lynn Moore-Thomas; five grandchildren, Sandra (Bret) Barrier, Delaina (Tommy) Plahitko, Angie (Karl) Crick, Makala Thomas, and Scott (Shannon) Snell; eight great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren and one on the way.
