Ricky "Rick" D. Hanson

Ricky “Rick” D. Hanson, 68, of Pittsburg, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was born August 26, 1956, in Lafayette to Leland and Shirley (James) Hanson. He married Malinda Wilson. She preceded him in death May 4, 2010. 

Rick attended Carroll High School class of 1974. He worked in construction, maintenance, and mill work jobs over his years. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing, playing croquet, and reading. He was a simple man that lived life on his terms with a quirky sense of humor and loved to laugh. He loved hanging out and sharing meals with his friends and family.

He is survived by his daughters, Andrea (Victor) Elenes and Amber Hanson; stepchildren, Sunshine (Brian) Wise, Shawn (Faye) Kelly, Shane (Amanda) Spencer, Natane Hill; siblings, Fonda (Kenny) Buschman, Theresa (Mike) Brown, Chris Hanson, Chris (Penny) Wheatley; twenty grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jeff Hanson.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 1-3pm at the 4-H Building at Flora Park. Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Reinke Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.
