Rita J. Smith, 67, of 639 E. Gas Line Rd., Mulberry died at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana on Saturday, December 18, 2010. She was born on September 26, 1943 in Mulberry, Indiana to parents Clarence & Mabel (Ellison) Murphy.
Rita graduated from Lafayette Jeff High School in 1961. She was a lifelong Mulberry & Lafayette area resident. She was a wife & mother, and she worked at Benedict's flowers for five years. She was a member of the Mulberry Jr. Women's Club and a past member of the Clinton Prairie Band Boosters.
She married Galen âDickâ Smith on September 29, 1963, and he survives.
Survivors include her husband Dick, two daughters, Dawn (husband Johnny) Louks of Frankfort & Michelle Katzman of Mulberry, four grandchildren, Megan & Brandon Louks & Keri & Katie Katzman, one great-granddaughter, Natalie Louks, a loving group of extended family & friends & her loving dog, Boomer.
