R.J. ""Dick"" Whiteman

R.J. “Dick” Whiteman, 80, of Flora, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015, at his home.

He was born August 31, 1934, in Pennville, to Frank and Edwina Votaw Whiteman.  On December 20, 1953, he married Annajayne Buskirk; she preceded him in death October 7, 2014.

Dick attained his GED while serving in the United States Navy.  After his retirement from the Navy as a Senior Chief, Dick worked for Public Service Electric and Gas in New Jersey.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge 58 in Leesburg, FL.

Surviving are one son, John (Carol) Whiteman of Indianapolis; one daughter, Katrina (Tim) VanDusen of Lake Village; and three grandchildren, Noah Green, Jaden VanDusen, and Sam VanDusen.

In addition to his wife, Dick is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Barbara Ward-Kesler.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora, from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.  Chaplain Virgil Barker will officiate.  Graveside service will follow at 3:00 p .m. at Gardens of Memory in Muncie with military honors.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
