Robert Dean Irmeger, 87, of Rossville, passed away on Saturday evening, March 12, 2016, at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born January 12, 1929 in Pyrmont, IN to Walter and Emma (Liebert) Irmeger. On March 12, 1929, he married Mary G. Kemmer, who survives.
Robert and Mary owned and operated Irmegerâs Standard Service Station in Rossville for many years. He was a founding member of Angel Hill Golf Course and worked as the Head Groundskeeper for Angel Hill Golf Course later in life. He also proudly served as the Fire Chief for the Rossville Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling in his RV, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles with his family and friends throughout the years.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Irmeger of Rossville; his daughter, Lou Ann Irmeger Baugh of Rossville; his grandson, Derek D. Irmeger (and wife: Tammie) of Tipton; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Bryan Irmeger. Robert was preceded in death by one son, Gary D. Irmeger; one brother, Virgil Irmeger and one sister, Betty (Irmeger) Patrick.
A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at Genda Funeral Home in Rossville. Inurnment will follow at Rossville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions to the Greater Indiana Alzheimerâs association, (www.alz.org/indiana/in_my_community_donate.asp) in honor of Bobâs wife, Mary.
