Robert Edwin Raber

Robert E. Raber, 86 of Rossville, died on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 11:00 PM at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette.

Born Saturday, August 2, 1924 in Evansville, Indiana, he was the son of Emil and Tillie (Herschelman) Raber.

He graduated in 1942 from Albion High School in Albion, Illinois, attended Louisiana State University and served in the US Army during WWII from 1943 until 1946.  Robert recieved the Bronze Star..

He was a member of St. Luke Church of Christ, Local 20 union and loved woodworking. He was an avid reader.

On December 21, he married Edna Mae Conger and she preceded him in death on August 14, 2000.

Surviving are sons, two sons, R. Steven Raber of Lafayette and Terry Edward (wfie Erin) Raber of Sedalia, a daughter, Pamela K. Dodson of Crawfordsville, one sister, Bettye Mae Doughty of Millstade, IL, four grandchildren, Terin (wife Rebecca) and Tara Raber, Josh (wife Lindsey) and Christopher Dodson, and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by one infant daughter, Linda.

A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Bodine Funeral Home, Rossville. Interment will be in Rossville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, December 13, 2010, at Bodine Funeral Home,  Rossville. Memorial contributions may be sent to Clinton County Cancer Association.
