Robert & Helen Shively

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee & Helen Catherine Shively, life-long Carroll County residents, passed into Heaven within days of each other. Robert passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Milner Community Health Care.  Helen passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018, at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

Both born in Carroll County, Robert was born January 30, 1928, to Eldo and Leta Royer Shively, while Helen was born February 13, 1930, to Carl and Ruth Margaret (Harter) Wise.  They married March 11, 1950, sharing 67 years together.

Robert attended Rossville High School; Helen graduated from Delphi High School in 1948. Robert farmed south of Delphi for most of his life with Helen helping on the farm and being a homemaker.  Robert and Helen were members of Cutler Ridge Old German Baptist New Conference Church.

Robert and Helen are survived by their daughter, Linda Sue (Leon) Welk, of rural Delphi; daughter-in-law, Joyce Ann Shively, of rural Delphi; Robert’s sister, Anna Bell Eller, of Rossville; Helen’s sister-in-law, Carmen Wise, of Rossville; four grandchildren, Troy (Lori) Welk, of Delphi, Randy (Gretchen) Welk, of Rossville, Eric Shively, of Flora, and Lisa Hymel, of Buford, Georgia; and seven great-grandchildren.

They are preceded in death by their parents; son, Larry Alan Shively; Robert’s sister, Mary Catherine Ivie, and her husband, Joe; Helen’s brothers, Robert Wise, and his wife, Mary, and Ralph Wise; and Robert’s brother-in-law, Clarence Eller.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Cutler Ridge New Conference Old German Baptist Church from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Cutler Ridge Old German Baptist New Conference Church with the Home Brethren officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.  Memorials may be made to Buck Creek Volunteer Fire Department or Cutler Ridge New Conference Old German Baptist Church.  Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel with online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
