Robert J. LaMar, 68, a lifelong Clinton County resident, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.
He was born October 31, 1946, in Clinton County, to George W. and Zedorabelle Moudy LaMar. On December 23, 1967, he married Gail Louise Dircks; she survives.
Bob attended Michigantown Schools and graduated from Clinton Central High School in 1964. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart for his bravery. After 45 years, Bob retired from the shipping and receiving department of Federal Mogul in 2012. Throughout his life, Bob was a volunteer fireman for Michigantown, and a proud supporter of Clinton Central Volleyball teams. He was a member of Michigantown Christian Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed IU Basketball, camping, and square dancing.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughters, Becky Lucas and Ann (Todd) Ottinger, both of Michigantown, and Jenni (Karla) LaMar of Noblesville; one sister, Mary Ann (Pam) LaMar of Arcadia; one brother, William Ed (Lois) LaMar of Sevierville, TN; and seven grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsey, Tyler, Taylor (fiancé, Fawne), Trent, Taryn, and Taylee.
Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Michigantown Christian Church from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Karl Kercheval will officiate. Burial will follow in Whiteman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bobâs name may be made to Clinton Central Athletic Department or Michigantown Christian Church.
