Robert James Miller, 76, of Michigantown, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the home that he shared with his daughter and son-in-law.
He was born March 9, 1938, in Danville, IL, the son of Paul James and Leone Joyce Carlson Miller. On August 18, 1956, Robert married Donna Kay Unger; she preceded him in death on June 14, 2002.
Robert had previously lived in Chicago, moving to Clinton County when he was 12. He then graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1956. Robert retired in 1994 from Chrysler after 30 years. He was a member of the U.A.W. and Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed working on cars and collected all types of model cars. Robert also enjoyed golf, watching sports, and sprint car racing. He was never known to drive anything but a Chrysler vehicle which he frequently drove on vacation. Robert was often seen taking his dog, âMollyâ, for lunch. He was a man of integrity who loved the Lord, his children, and his grandchildren dearly. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, caring for her until her passing.
Surviving Robert are his son, Steve (Shelley) Miller of Pyrmont; daughter, Joni (Tony) Sommer of Michigantown; six grandchildren, Christopher, Rachel, Kristin, Courtney, Nathan, and Kalynne; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robert is preceded in death by one grandson, Jason, and one great-granddaughter, Hope.
Visitation for Robert will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home from 2-5 p.m. Funeral service for Robert will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Donna Enersen officiating. Burial will follow in Geetingsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robertâs name to Clinton County Humane Society.
