Robert Kinzer

Robert Joe Kinzer, 95, of Flora, passed away at Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi.  He was born March 9, 1923 in Rossville to Bivon and Lelia (Peters) Kinzer.  He was a 1941 graduate of Rossville High School.  He married Bernadean Pearson on March 10, 1942, she survives.  He served in the Unites States Army during World War II and again during the Korean War.   He had the privilege of going on the Veteran Honor Flight this past Tuesday to Washington DC, which he enjoyed and was a very fitting last trip for him.

Robert worked for Esserman’s when he returned from the military and then had a milk route.  He then worked for Yeager and Sullivan where he retired in 1988 after 26 years of working.  He went on to drive for the Council on Aging for over 6 years.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Flora, a past president of ARC of Carroll County, Eastern Star, Past Master of Flora Masons, Past Commander of Flora American Legion, and a member of the VFW and DAV.  He enjoyed going to the Corner Café and being around people, especially family.

Along with his wife of 76 years, Robert is survived by his children, Beverly (Charles) Wolf of Flora, Terry Kinzer of Burrows, Barbara Kinzer of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tom; two brothers, John and Fred Kinzer; and a half brother, Maurice Kinzer.

Visitation will be 5-8pm, Tuesday, April 24, 2018 and 10am until the time of the service at 11am on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel.  Richard Voorhees will officiate.  Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery.  Military rites will be performed by the Carroll County Honor Guard.
