Robert Lee Meador, 91, of Rossville, was called home on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
He was born October 9, 1925, the oldest son of Robert J. and Bessie Irene Rule Meador. On October 10, 1948, he married Betty Jane Gregg Eikenberry; they enjoyed over 68 years together.
Robert graduated from Cutler High School in 1944, and then served in the United States Army during World War II in Japan and the Philippine Islands. He received his pilotâs license in 1947 and enjoyed taking people for rides. Except for four years, Robert and Betty lived their entire married life on the same farm east of Rossville where he farmed for many years in addition to milking cows and raising hogs and chickens. He worked as a land surveyor for Clinton and Tippecanoe Counties for many years and was responsible for drawing and maintaining plat books for Carroll County. Robert was a member of Cutler Ridge Old German Baptist Brethren New Conference congregation and served as an EMT for Rossville Volunteer Ambulance Service for 25 years. Robert and Betty were able to winter for several years in Homestead, Fla., where they made many friends.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Lee (Merideth) Cable, Carol June Meador, Shirley Anne (Greg) Root, Karen Rae (Jeff) Pansing, and Bonnie Jeanne (Jim) Yost; one son, Scott Edward (Jewel) Meador; brother, Dallas Meador; sister-in-law, Phyllis Meador; 16 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold Meador; sister-in-law, Doris Meador; and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Cutler Ridge Old German Baptist Brethren Church from 1:00 â 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 â 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the church with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial will follow in Cutler Ridge Old German Baptist Brethren NC Cemetery.
