Roger Dale Morris

Roger Dale Morris, 62, of Rossville, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014, at his home.

He was born August 7, 1952, in Frankfort, the son of James and Mary Keever Morris.  Roger was formerly married to Carol Schmierer.

Roger graduated from Rossville High School in 1971.  Roger had been in the grocery business since high school, working at Dewey’s IGA and later owned and operated grocery stores in Frankfort and Ockley.  Later in his life, he was a machinist at Fairfield Manufacturing before retiring in 2007.  Roger was a member of the Rossville Volunteer Fire Dept. and enjoyed his two labs, Molly and Scotch.

Surviving Roger are two sons, Shawn R. (Kristine) Morris of Rossville and Travis Morris (Danielle Godbey) of Lafayette; two daughters, Johanna  Rodgers Clemons (Brian) of Arab, AL, and Carla Rodgers Richards (Ben Coombs) of Dayton; aunt, Cathryn Coy of Frankfort; nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Harold Morris.

Visitation for Roger will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ted Brust and Brian White officiating.  Burial will follow Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry.  Memorials may be made to assist the family with final expenses.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
