History buff, beer enthusiast, and classic car lover, Ronald William âTinyâ Guenther passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 7:56 a.m.
He was born July 14, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Raymond O. and Margaret E. (Ramey) Guenther, and they preceded him in death. He graduated from Fort Wayne South in 1961. Ron joined the U.S. Army in 1964, attaining the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1970. His overseas tour took him to Korea where he thoroughly enjoyed the people, culture, and especially the food.
After returning to Fort Wayne, he worked a variety of odd jobs and played on a rugby team. It was through one of his teammates that he met Peggy Joyce Weida. They married on Nov.13, 1970; they divorced in 1994.
In 1976, Ron and Peggy moved to Frankfort where he went to work in law enforcement, working as a dispatcher and jailor at the Clinton County Sheriffâs Dept. and later as a dispatcher at the Frankfort Police Dept. After leaving the Police Dept, he worked at Kork & Keg Liquors as a store and warehouse manager until leaving due to disability.
Ron is survived by two âbrattyâ daughters, Guinne Guenther of Frankfort, and Gael (Mark) Steadman of Lansing, Mich.; three grandchildren, and longtime friend, Cynthia Skinner of Frankfort.
Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort with no public services planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or, in keeping with Ronâs love of animals, to your local Humane Society.
