Roy Gene Woodhouse, a dearly loved husband, father, and grandfather of age 82, died on Monday, May 16, at his home in Rossville surrounded by those who loved him. He has been ill with Alzheimer's for many years, but is now whole again in heaven with his Savior and God.
Roy was born in Idaville, IN on August 31, 1928, to the late Paul and Mary Allen Woodhouse. and attended Idaville School and received his GED. He married his beautiful bride, June Groninger, a hairdresser, on April 25, 1952 in Rockfield, IN. Roy has lived most of his life in the Rossville area where he farmed for 48 years. Roy served in the Korean War with the US Army.
He is remembered for being a hard worker in order to provide for his family, being a loving and doting grandfather who was always being fought over for a place on his lap, and for taking time for family.
Roy was preceded in death by his two sisters: Mary-Ann Berkshire and Fern Fritz, and by two of his brothers: Earl and Carl Woodhouse.
Those surviving are wife, June Woodhouse, sons, Brad Woodhouse of Rossville and Ed Woodhouse of Rossville, daughters, Susan Grabert (Michael) of Mt. Vernon, IN and Peggy Crum (Rick) of Rossville, brother, Charles Woodhouse (Eva) of Missouri, 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 20,2011 at Bodine Funeral Home, 450 N State Rd 39 Rossville, Indiana 46065 with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery.
