Roy âJuniorâ Roush, 87, of Rossville, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Milner Health Care Center.
He was born in Rossville on June 26, 1926, to the late Roy and Mary Fern Metzger Roush. On March 22, 1953, Junior married Mary Jane Snyder; she survives.
A life-long resident of Rossville, Junior graduated from Rossville High School in 1944. He loved sports and was a Rossville Hornets supporter and avid Yankee fan. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He was employed by National Homes Corp, building prefab homes for 35 years until retiring in 1985. Junior attended Rossville United Methodist Church. He was a past Master and 50 year member of the Rossville Masonic Lodge #318 and member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and Murat Shrine. He was also a 50 year member of the American Legion, where he had served as Commander and life member of V.F.W. Junior was on the Milner Board of Directors, past president and 4 year member of Rossville Town Board, and past Exalted Ruler of Frankfort Elks. Junior and Jane enjoyed traveling and were proud to have traveled to all 50 states and Canada.
In addition to his wife, Junior is survived by a sister, Roberta Holtman of Lafayette; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Richard) Kemmer of Minnesota, Kay (Don) Knop of Monticello, and Karen (Tony) Gascho of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Junior will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 3-7 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home-Rossville Chapel with Masonic service at 7 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Brian White officiating. Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery with military graveside honors. Memorials may be made in Juniorâs honor to Links of Love of the Rossville United Methodist Church.
