Ruby M. Root, 91, a lifelong resident of Rossville, died on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at 9:30 AM in the home of her niece near Mulberry.
She was born January 27, 1921, in Clinton County near Edna Mills, the daughter of Harvey A. and Elizabeth J. Miller Root.
Ruby was employed at Lafayette Home Hospital as a nurseâs aide and ward clerk of 20 years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
Ruby is survived by one sister-in-law, Annabelle Root of Rossville; and several nieces and nephews, including Meredith Skiles (wife, Leona) of Rossville, Keith Skiles (wife, Marilyn) of North Manchester, Rick Root (wife, Joyce) of Rossville, Mrs. Robert (Maxine) Metzger of rural Mulberry, and Gene Root (wife, Julia) of rural Rossville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Emily Wise and Mary Skiles, and one brother, John Root.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Genda Funeral Home, formally Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville, IN from 3:00-5:30 p.m. and then 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the Middle Fork Old German Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. with the Church Home Brethren officiating. Burial will follow in North Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery.
