Russell Wayne “Short” Kelly of Michigantown passed away on January 23, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family.  He was born July 14, 1920 to the late Walter Arthur and Cora May (Allen) Kelly near Forest, Indiana.

He attended school in Forest and Scircleville.  He married Gwen Ferguson on July 21, 1950 in Kirklin, Indiana, and she survives.

Russell was a member of the Michigantown Methodist Church.  Mr. Kelly had formerly been employed at the Michigantown Grain Elevator, Indiana State Highway Department and Clinton Central High School.  He was a direct descendant of one of the first settlers (Edward Kelly) in Michigantown in 1831.  He was a hardworking, quiet man who enjoyed walking, woodworking, ice cream and his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Max Kelly of Indianapolis, and Brenda (Andy) Robertson of Forest; his grandchildren, Jessica (Benjamin) Meyer of Supply, North Carolina, William Robertson of Forest, and Daniel Robertson of Forest.  He is also survived by one sister, Wilma (Robert) Sedwick from Lapel, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents along with brothers, Ralph, Tom, Bobbie and Rollie, and sisters, Esther and Betty.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 2 p.m. until the funeral service at 3:30 p.m.  Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery in Forest.

Memorials may be made to Michigantown Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
